ACCOSTED at the Christian Praying Assembly (CPA) headquarters in Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos, this Sunday afternoon, a tall, clean-shaven man (the bearded aren’t too many here any longer) pleasantly dismisses fears about the safety of ‘HIS HOLINESS THE G.O, REV KING: “Ah, no fears at all; he is safe and will be back. Thanks for your interest…and respect,” he says.
In the course of the conversation, he identifies himself simply as PraiseGod, a senior member of the Church Council. He is responding to our question about Rev. King’s safety, following the devastating Tuesday, September 10 flood in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
King was on a death row for murder there when the flood brought down the walls of the capital city’s correctional centre, leading to the current uncertainty about the whereabouts of some 281 inmates, including Rev. King.
But exactly what does he mean ‘HIS HOLINESS THE G.O…WILL BE BACK?’
The man simply points two fingers (gun nuzzle sign) to his neck and says: ‘Naw, nobody will shoot him!’
