Hajiya Asiya El-Rufai, the wife of the detained former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has made a passionate, emotional appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, demanding “fair treatment” for her husband.
Speaking on Tuesday evening, Hajiya Asiya explicitly reminded the President of the fierce loyalty and pivotal support she and her husband provided during his grueling 2023 presidential campaign, which ultimately secured his victory.
In a statement filled with emotion, the former Kaduna First Lady pointed out that her husband stood firmly by President Tinubu when many others wavered during the election cycle. She emphasized that their current predicament stands in stark contrast to the political alliances that built the current administration.
”We gave our all to ensure this presidency became a reality,” she stated, urging the President to intervene and ensure that justice and due process are upheld.
The public plea highlights growing friction within the ruling political circle, as allies of the former governor watch his ongoing detention with increasing concern. Hajiya Asiya maintained that her appeal is not for special favors, but for the fundamental right to fair and just treatment under the law.
