The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has assured members and supporters that the party will successfully navigate its ongoing legal challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to journalists and party stakeholders in Abuja, the former Governor of Kano State urged the party faithful to remain calm, steadfast, and deeply devoted to the movement. His remarks come amidst brewing legal and structural disputes that have shadowed the newly formed political realignment.
Kwankwaso emphasized that legal hurdles are a routine part of robust opposition politics in Nigeria, expressing unwavering confidence in the judiciary to deliver a fair outcome. He urged supporters not to be distracted by what he termed “teething challenges” meant to test the resolve of the party.
”Our journey to rescue and reposition Nigeria is built on a solid foundation,” Kwankwaso stated. “These legal issues are mere hurdles on our track. I call on all our dedicated members and the millions of supporters nationwide to remain calm, law-abiding, and completely focused on our goals for 2027.”
The NDC has quickly become a focal point of Nigeria’s changing political landscape, serving as a primary vehicle for major opposition figures seeking to consolidate forces. Kwankwaso, who forms a key part of the party’s leadership alongside presidential hopeful Peter Obi, noted that the enthusiasm surrounding the party has naturally drawn intense scrutiny and challenges from various quarters.
Party insiders indicate that the legal strategy is already being aggressively pursued by a high-powered legal team. Leaders remain confident that the party’s registration, structure, and internal democracy stand on firm legal ground.
As the election cycle intensifies, Kwankwaso reiterated that the primary mission of the NDC remains unchanged: providing a formidable alternative platform focused on human development, economic revitalization, and national unity. He concluded by urging intensive grassroots mobilization across all geopolitical zones, declaring that the party’s momentum cannot be halted.
