In a major organizational push ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) announced the formation of its National Campaign Council on Sunday, October 25, 2026, setting up a high-profile executive leadership team to drive its nationwide campaign operations.
According to an official statement released by the party, the NDC National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has been appointed Chairman of the National Campaign Council, with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, serving as Co-Chairman.
The executive leadership structure is further strengthened by the appointment of the presidential running mate, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as Co-Vice Chairman alongside the NDC National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe.
Operational execution will be led by Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim, who takes on the role of Director-General of the Campaign Council, while former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, heads the Campaign Advisory Council.
The party also established a multi-tiered communications machinery to manage media relations and grassroots engagement across the country.
Hon. Ikeddi Isiguzo has been appointed Deputy Director of Communication & Media, with Dr. Constance Ikokwu serving as the Chief Campaign Spokesperson. Assisting the primary communications desk are Sonny Neme and Dr. Sam Omale as Deputy Campaign Spokespersons.
To ensure effective zonal outreach, the NDC appointed regional spokespersons representing Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones: Anulka Rita Modebe for the North Central, Rev. Wesley Gainaka for the North East, Ibrahim Rabi’u Amana for the North West, Nwosu Christopher Maduabuchukwu for the South East, Dr. Isaiah Osifo for the South South, and Makinde Akinlade for the South West.
The formal inauguration of the National Campaign Council is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026, at the NDC National Secretariat in Abuja.
The event is expected to bring together party leaders, state coordinators, parliamentary candidates, and delegates from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to launch the party’s official campaign roadmap for the 2027 polls.
