A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to arrest the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, over allegations bordering on certificate forgery. ​The presiding judge granted the order on Thursday following an ex parte motion filed by the anti-graft agency.
The ICPC had approached the court seeking a warrant to apprehend the former minister to facilitate ongoing investigations into his academic credentials. ​”The court, having listened to the application presented by the ICPC, hereby orders the arrest of the respondent, Uche Nnaji, to answer to the allegations of certificate forgery leveled against him,” the court source noted. ​
Uche Nnaji served as the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology. The current legal action marks a significant escalation in the probe concerning the authenticity of his certificates, a matter that has recently drawn public scrutiny. ​
With the court order now active, the ICPC is expected to execute the arrest warrant and bring the former minister in for formal questioning and potential arraignment.
