Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared that Nigeria will not capitulate to the threats of terrorism and banditry, expressing fierce optimism that the country will ultimately triumph over its current security challenges.
Speaking at a state event over the weekend, the Lagos State Governor urged citizens to remain resilient and united, reassuring them that government at all levels is working tirelessly to restore absolute peace and stability across the nation.
Addressing a gathering of community leaders, security chiefs, and citizens, Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the anxiety gripping many parts of the country but insisted that fear must not be allowed to dictate Nigeria’s future.
”We cannot, and we will not, bow to the whims of terror,” Sanwo-Olu stated. “The corporate existence of Nigeria and the safety of our people are non-negotiable. While the challenges are real, our collective resolve to overcome them is even stronger. Nigeria shall overcome this phase.”
The Governor emphasized that the battle against insecurity requires a collective front, urging Nigerians to look beyond political, ethnic, and religious divides to support the nation’s security agencies.
Highlighting state-level interventions, Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to keeping Lagos safe as a economic hub, which in turn acts as a stabilizer for the rest of the country.
He noted that continuous investment in intelligence gathering, tactical technology, and welfare for security personnel remains a top priority. Sanwo-Olu concluded his address with a message of hope, calling on religious and traditional institutions to preach peace and unity.
He insisted that the resilience of the Nigerian spirit has been tested before and has always emerged stronger. ”History shows that light always triumphs over darkness,” the Governor said.
“The band of criminals disrupting our peace are in the minority, and with the strategic measures being put in place by the federal and state governments, their defeat is inevitable.”
