​The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has suspended at least 19 students following allegations of examination malpractice during the recent academic session.
​The disciplinary action was taken by the university management in accordance with the recommendations submitted by the institution’s Students’ Disciplinary Committee, which investigated the incidents.
The decision followed a thorough investigation by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, ensuring affected students were given a fair hearing before recommendations were finalized.
The suspended students have been ordered to stay off campus and hand over all university property, including their student identity cards, to their respective Heads of Department.
​University authorities reiterated their zero-tolerance policy toward any form of academic dishonesty. Management emphasized that the suspension serves as a stern warning to the general student body that the institution will not compromise its academic standards.
​Further reviews of other pending disciplinary cases are reportedly ongoing, as the university maintains its drive to curb malpractice and protect the integrity of its degrees.
