The Nigerian Railway Corporation has increased the number of trips on the Lagos–Ibadan train route to accommodate the growing number of passengers traveling ahead of the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.

The increase comes as many Nigerians begin interstate travels to reunite with family and loved ones for the Sallah festivities. Passengers are expected to troop to train stations in large numbers this week as they seek safer and more affordable transportation options.

Commuters have welcomed the additional trips, describing rail transportation as a more convenient alternative amid rising road transport fares and traffic congestion on major highways.

The corporation says the move is aimed at easing passenger movement and reducing travel pressure during the festive period.
