The Obidient Movement has called on eligible Nigeria citizens who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued yesterday by the movement’s National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, the group stressed the importance of mass participation in the voter registration process, particularly among young Nigerians and first-time voters who have attained the age of 18.
The movement urged citizens across the country not to wait until the final days of the registration exercise before taking action, warning that delays could lead to overcrowding and other avoidable challenges at registration centres.
According to the statement, obtaining a PVC remains one of the most important civic responsibilities of every eligible Nigerian, as it grants citizens the constitutional right to participate directly in choosing leaders at all levels of government.
The group described voter participation as a key pillar of democracy, noting that the future of the country depends heavily on the willingness of citizens to actively engage in the electoral process.
Tanko stated that the 2027 general election would be a defining moment in the nation’s political history and urged Nigerians not to remain indifferent at a time when critical decisions about the country’s future would be made.
He explained that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise provides an opportunity for millions of Nigerians, especially youths who recently turned 18, to become officially recognised voters and contribute meaningfully to national development through democratic participation.
“The electoral process is both a constitutional right and a civic responsibility,” the statement said, while encouraging citizens to view voter registration not merely as a routine exercise but as a vital contribution toward building a stronger and more accountable democratic system.
The movement also called on Nigerians who had registered previously but were yet to collect their PVCs to do so before the commencement of the election season, stressing that registration alone would not be enough without possession of the voter card on election day.
Political observers believe the renewed mobilisation drive by the Obidient Movement reflects growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with several political groups already intensifying grassroots engagement and voter awareness campaigns across the country.
