Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has lauded the leadership of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, describing it as both purposeful and impactful, in remarks that have drawn national attention to the state’s development trajectory.
The commendation came during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Uyo on Thursday, where the Defence Minister met with the governor and key members of his administration. According to a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ekerete Udoh, Musa used the occasion to highlight what he described as visible signs of progress across the state.
Speaking after touring parts of Akwa Ibom, Musa said he was particularly impressed by the state’s road network, noting that the quality and reach of infrastructure he observed reflected deliberate planning and effective execution. For a country where infrastructure gaps remain a persistent challenge, such praise from a top federal official carries weight.
“I have seen the road networks while driving across the state, and I must say the achievements here are commendable,” Musa stated. “These are not feats that are beyond reach, but they require commitment, and that is clearly evident here.”
Beyond infrastructure, the Defence Minister pointed to the broader governance approach of the Eno administration, referencing the widely publicised ARISE Agenda, a development blueprint designed to stimulate economic growth, improve livelihoods, and enhance public service delivery.
Musa revealed that he had long followed the ARISE programmes from afar, but his visit offered a first-hand perspective that, in his words, confirmed the administration’s claims.
“I have been an ardent follower of the ARISE programmes,” he said. “What I have seen on the ground is evidence of a government that is truly committed to its people.”
The ARISE Agenda, which has become a defining feature of Governor Eno’s administration, focuses on areas such as agricultural expansion, rural development, infrastructure renewal, and support for small and medium-scale enterprises. State officials have consistently framed it as a people-centric model aimed at inclusive growth.
