The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on Nigerians to stay hopeful and united, expressing confidence that the nation can overcome its current economic and security difficulties.
CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, made the appeal in an Easter message released on Sunday in Abuja.
He noted that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a powerful symbol of hope, reminding believers that renewal and recovery are always possible, no matter how difficult circumstances may seem.
Okoh explained that Easter represents the return of hope in times of despair and the promise of new beginnings after hardship.
He acknowledged the struggles many Nigerians are facing, including insecurity and economic challenges, saying that fear and uncertainty have left many families worried about their future.
Despite this, he encouraged citizens not to lose faith, stressing that the message of Easter shows that difficult moments are not permanent.
The CAN president also urged leaders at all levels to back their promises with meaningful action, adding that Nigerians want to see genuine efforts to improve their lives.
According to him, true leadership is demonstrated through empathy, visible results, and commitment to the people’s welfare.
He further called on churches and religious institutions to remain strong pillars of support, offering guidance and encouragement during challenging times.
Okoh warned against division and fear, urging Nigerians to embrace unity and work together to resist forces that threaten the country’s stability.
He emphasized that while hardship can create division, it can also inspire unity if people choose to support one another.
Describing Easter as more than a celebration, he said it is a call for collective action, encouraging Nigerians to rise above differences and confront national challenges together.
Okoh concluded by wishing Nigerians a happy Easter and prayed for continued peace, unity, and progress in the country.
