Popular Nollywood actor Aremu Afolayan has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, praising the administration’s policies and diplomatic engagements while urging Nigerians to focus on national unity.
Speaking at a political gathering, Afolayan openly endorsed Tinubu’s leadership, dismissing widespread concerns about economic hardship and instead highlighting his personal experience as evidence that opportunities still exist within the country.
“I’m doing very well,” the actor said, suggesting that while challenges persist, they do not define the entirety of the Nigerian experience.
Afolayan particularly commended the president’s diplomatic efforts, pointing to the resolution of travel restrictions imposed by the United Arab Emirates on Nigerian citizens. According to him, Tinubu’s direct engagement with UAE authorities played a key role in easing the situation, a development he described as both commendable and impactful.
“When the UAE banned Nigerians from entering their country, it was President Tinubu who went there, met with their president, and helped lift the ban. I was very happy and praising Tinubu,” he said.
The actor further noted that while Nigeria continues to grapple with multiple challenges, he believes the president is making genuine efforts to address them and foster unity among citizens.
“Nigeria has many problems, but most Nigerians seem more focused on criticizing him and his efforts. The good work President Tinubu is doing is why I support him. He is trying to unite Nigerians,” Afolayan added.
