A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Yobe State, Dr. Ali Tikau, has formally defected to the African Democratic Congress, marking a significant political shift in Nangere Local Government Area and stirring conversations about evolving political alliances in the state.
Tikau made the announcement on Monday during a well-attended ceremony held in his hometown of Tikau, located in Nangere Local Government Area. The gathering drew a large crowd of supporters, political associates, community leaders and residents who assembled to witness the former PDP chieftain’s transition to a new political platform.
The atmosphere at the event reflected both celebration and reflection as Tikau formally brought an end to his years of membership in the PDP. As part of the symbolic process of leaving the party, he publicly surrendered his membership card to the ward leadership of the party.
The card was received by the Chairman of PDP Tikau Ward, Samaila Jalamawa, alongside the ward secretary and other party officials present at the ceremony. The act signified Tikau’s official disengagement from the party under which he had previously sought the governorship ticket in Yobe State.
