The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has issued an executive directive instructing all cabinet ministers, political appointees, and designated campaign council members to strictly limit their attendance to presidential campaign rallies held within their respective home states.

The announcement was conveyed via an official circular issued on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, following strategic briefings at the APC Campaign Headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the council, the strategic communications directorate emphasized that the operational guideline is designed to balance electoral mobilization with governance responsibilities as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

Under the new directive, public office holders must concentrate their efforts on door-to-door and ward-level constituency engagement exclusively within their home states.

This localised focus is intended to allow regional and state campaign structures to manage local rallies independently, eliminating the need for central cabinet members to travel nationwide.

Crucially, the leadership stressed that cabinet members must ensure the seamless operation of their respective ministries and agencies throughout the electioneering period, keeping federal business fully functional without disruption.

The policy aligns directly with explicit instructions from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who cautioned against allowing campaign activities to derail national governance. Addressing council leadership during a campaign strategy meeting in Abuja, President Tinubu affirmed that governance must take precedence over political travel.

”You’ve warned me not to allow the rigour of the campaign to distract me from governance; I hear you, and I am in full agreement with your decision,” President Tinubu stated. “Nigeria needs more attention now. So, you will excuse me from going everywhere with you; we have bills to pay, and the American creditors cannot wait.”

The measure comes on the heels of state-level inauguration ceremonies for the APC Presidential Campaign Council across the country, including recent rollouts in Plateau State on November 2, 2026, and Ekiti State on October 30, 2026.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council reiterated that while grassroots mobilization remains paramount for securing victory in 2027, maintaining economic stability and delivering governance dividends to Nigerians remain the administration’s top priorities.
