President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will pursue the fight against terrorism and banditry until the country achieves a decisive victory over the criminal groups threatening national peace and stability.
The President gave the assurance on Monday night while hosting traditional rulers as well as Christian and Muslim leaders at an interfaith breaking of fast held at the State House Abuja in Abuja.
Speaking during the gathering, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling the country’s security challenges and restoring peace across affected communities.
He noted that despite the current difficulties, Nigeria would ultimately overcome terrorism and banditry through sustained security operations and stronger collaboration among security agencies.
According to the President, the government has intensified pressure on violent groups through ongoing military and security operations across different parts of the country.
Tinubu said the renewed efforts by security forces have already begun to weaken the capacity of terrorists and bandits, stressing that the administration would not relent until the threats are completely neutralised.
He also emphasised the importance of unity, urging religious and traditional leaders to continue supporting the government’s efforts by promoting peace, tolerance and cooperation among citizens.
The interfaith event, which brought together leaders from different religious and traditional institutions, was part of efforts by the Presidency to strengthen national unity and encourage collective prayers for the country during the fasting period.
The President further expressed optimism that with sustained efforts, Nigeria would overcome its security challenges and move toward greater peace, stability and development.
