The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen regional collaboration on road safety across West Africa.
The agreement, signed on Friday at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja, aims to enhance institutional partnerships, knowledge exchange and coordinated efforts in road safety management, according to a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Osondu Ohaeri.
Ohaeri said the partnership would focus on innovation, capacity building, research, vehicle administration, enforcement and data-driven road safety practices to help reduce road traffic crashes and fatalities in the region.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Executive Director of SLRSA, Mr James Bagie Bio, described the agreement as a defining moment in the relationship between the two organisations and expressed confidence that it would deliver measurable road safety outcomes.
Sierra Leone’s Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria and Deputy Head of Mission to ECOWAS, retired Maj.-Gen. Dauda Alpha, said the partnership would strengthen regional integration and collective efforts to safeguard lives on African roads.
The FRSC said the MoU marked another milestone in its drive to expand international partnerships and reinforce its position as a leading road safety institution in Africa.
