The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has called on candidates for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination to report any Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre that charges above the officially approved registration fees.
The examination body said it would not hesitate to sanction any centre found guilty of overcharging or engaging in sharp practices during the registration process.
In a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board dismissed reports circulating in some quarters that it had increased the registration fees for the 2026 exercise.
According to the statement, the approved fees remain unchanged. The cost for Direct Entry (DE) registration is ₦5,700, while candidates registering for UTME only (without mock) are to pay ₦7,200. Those opting for UTME with mock examination are to pay ₦8,700.
“The Board appeals to any candidate who has paid more than the officially approved fees to promptly report such centres with credible evidence,” the statement read in part.
It added that such reports would enable the board to investigate and take immediate disciplinary action against any erring CBT centre.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the approved registration fees remain as follows: Direct Entry (DE): ₦5,700; UTME Only (without Mock): ₦7,200; UTME with Mock: ₦8,700,” the board reiterated.
JAMB stressed its commitment to ensuring a transparent and fair registration process, warning CBT operators against exploiting candidates. The board assured the public that it would continue to monitor centres nationwide to safeguard the integrity of the examination process.
