The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State on Wednesday successfully conducted its ward congress across all 192 wards of the state, with leaders emerging through a consensus arrangement.
Addressing journalists at the party secretariat in Benin City, the State Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, described the exercise as peaceful, orderly and in strict compliance with the party’s laid-down guidelines.
Tenebe, who was accompanied by a delegation from the party’s national secretariat, said the February 18, 2026 congress marked a significant milestone in the growth and consolidation of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State.
According to him, the seamless conduct of the congress across the 192 wards reflects the party’s internal cohesion and readiness to deepen democratic practices at the grassroots.
“The seamless conclusion of the Ward Congresses across the 192 wards of Edo State marks yet another watershed in the political evolution of our dear state. Today, we celebrate not just the successful conduct of a party exercise, but the reaffirmation of our collective commitment to unity, cohesion, transparency, and inclusivity,” Tenebe said.
He commended party members, stakeholders and electoral officials for their cooperation and maturity throughout the process, noting that the consensus approach adopted in most wards helped to foster harmony and avoid unnecessary disputes.
Party faithful gathered in various wards across the state to ratify agreed candidates, a development observers say could strengthen the party’s structure ahead of future political engagements.
The state leadership assured members that the newly elected ward executives would be inaugurated in due course, urging them to work collectively to advance the party’s objectives and maintain the prevailing atmosphere of peace within the fold.
