The Rector of Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, has urged newly admitted students to uphold strong character, strive for academic excellence, and steer clear of friendships or associations that could distract them from their primary purpose of studying.
Dr. Oluseye delivered the warning on Thursday during the matriculation ceremony of 5,551 new students for the 2025/2026 academic session, describing the occasion as a “significant milestone” that formally recognizes them as bona fide members of OGITECH.
While emphasizing the management’s commitment to supporting students in achieving excellence, the rector stressed that the school would not hesitate to enforce its rules strictly. “The authority of the school is ready to wield its big stick and mete out deserving punishment to any student who refuses to abide by the rules governing the polytechnic,” he said.
Dr. Oluseye’s address highlighted the dual responsibility of students: to embrace the opportunities offered by the institution while maintaining discipline and focus on their academic and personal growth.
The matriculation ceremony, which marks the formal induction of students into OGITECH, also served as a reminder of the standards expected of students and the institution’s determination to produce graduates who are both academically competent and morally upright.
