Abakiliki to Lagos by road is 628km. Aba to Lagos is 606km. These are the two furthest major cities to Lagos in the South East. Fuel will sell in the South East for N940.

Another surprise is that Rivers and Akwa Ibom are grouped with the South East. Their capitals are Port Harcourt (606km) and Uyo (671km) from Lagos.

Fuel has never sold at the official rate in these places for decades.

The rates are at most arbitrary. Calabar, which is N747km from Lagos, will get fuel at N933, N7 less than the South East.

Lagos is the landing point for most imports, including petroleum products.

What informs Kaduna (831km) and Kano (992.5km) from Lagos buying fuel at N939 per litre? The South East that’s closer to Lagos is paying more than Kaduna and others. No mention of oil-producing Bayelsa. Only NNPC knows.

The matter of making life more difficult for residents of the South East is becoming more obvious daily. Those who plan these things would always have explanations, or sometimes ignore us.
