The Kebbi State Government has declared that there is no viable alternative to Governor Nasir Idris as political realignments gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Idris Zuru, said politicians across party lines were increasingly acknowledging what he described as the “developmental reality” under the current administration.
According to Zuru, Governor Idris’ leadership has reshaped the political landscape in Kebbi State, attracting recognition from both supporters and opponents for the administration’s developmental agenda. Governor Nasir Idris, a former labour leader and ex-President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), was elected governor in 2023 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending years of opposition politics in the state.
The statement underscored that the governor’s policies and reforms have strengthened governance and accelerated socio-economic development, positioning him as a central figure in the state’s political future.
It also noted that the increasing acceptance of Governor Idris’ leadership reflects the confidence of Kebbi residents and political stakeholders in his ability to sustain progress and deliver meaningful change ahead of the 2027 elections.
