Members of Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad that finished as runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have officially received their national honours certificates, along with title documents for the houses and land allocations promised by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The presentation ceremony took place on December 22, 2025, at the team’s hotel in Fez, Morocco, ahead of the Super Eagles’ opening match in the new AFCON qualifying campaign.
President Tinubu had pledged the rewards in recognition of the team’s performance at the 2023 AFCON tournament held in Côte d’Ivoire between January and February 2024, where the Super Eagles emerged second after an impressive run to the final.
The honours and property allocations were part of the Federal Government’s efforts to appreciate the players and officials for their dedication, resilience and contribution to national pride on the continental stage.
Officials present at the presentation commended the players for their commitment and urged them to remain focused as they embark on the next phase of their AFCON qualification journey, assuring them of the government’s continued support.
The Super Eagles’ runners-up finish at the 2023 AFCON rekindled national enthusiasm for football and reaffirmed Nigeria’s status as one of Africa’s leading football nations.
