The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the defection of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, during the party’s 14th National Caucus meeting held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

According to Channels Television, Yilwatda disclosed the development while addressing party leaders and stakeholders at the meeting, describing the defection as a significant political gain for the APC. He noted that Governor Mutfwang’s decision to join the ruling party further strengthens its presence and influence across the country.

Yilwatda, who hails from Plateau State, said the defection means that all states in the North Central geopolitical zone are now governed by the APC, marking what he described as a major milestone for the party in the region.

The Plateau governor’s move is expected to reshape the political landscape in the state and the wider North Central zone, as analysts anticipate possible realignments ahead of future elections. The APC leadership welcomed the governor into the party, assuring him of cooperation and support as he aligns with the ruling party’s agenda at both state and national levels.
