The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the resumption of the enforcement of laws regulating the use of tinted glass on vehicles across the state.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, noting that the decision was in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Habib explained that the move followed a review of prevailing security concerns and the need to enhance public safety across Bauchi State.
He said the renewed enforcement was aimed at curbing criminal activities often associated with the misuse of tinted vehicles, including kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes.
According to him, motorists are required to comply with existing regulations by obtaining valid tinted glass permits from the Nigeria Police Force where applicable.
He warned that vehicles found in violation of the law would be sanctioned in accordance with relevant legal provisions. The police spokesperson stressed that the enforcement exercise would be carried out professionally and without harassment, urging drivers and vehicle owners to cooperate with officers to ensure a safer environment for all road users.
He added that the command would also intensify public sensitisation to educate motorists on the requirements and exemptions provided under the law, while calling on members of the public to report any misconduct by police personnel during the exercise.
The Bauchi State Police Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and appealed to residents to support the initiative in the interest of improved security across the state.
