National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has revealed that the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) is intensifying training for a specialised unit of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) as part of renewed efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating from the nation’s forests.

Ribadu, who made the announcement on his official X handle, said the enhanced training programme is designed to strengthen field operations and equip operatives with advanced skills needed to confront violent groups taking refuge in remote forest areas across the country.

According to the NSA, the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s broader security reform strategy aimed at degrading terrorist cells, bandit groups, and other criminal elements that have exploited forest terrain to evade law enforcement.

He noted that improved capacity building for the Forest Security Service is essential to reclaiming ungoverned spaces, restoring public confidence, and securing rural communities affected by recurring attacks.

Ribadu added that the administration is committed to investing in specialised units across all security formations to ensure they are adequately prepared to address evolving threats.
