The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, earlier scheduled to hold this week at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, citing “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason for the postponement.
According to Ologunagba, a new date for the crucial meeting will be communicated to all members and stakeholders in due course. He urged members of the NEC, state chairmen, and other invited officials to await further directives from the party leadership.
The NEC meeting, which was expected to deliberate on key national and internal party issues, including preparations for upcoming off-cycle elections, reconciliation efforts among aggrieved members, and strategies to strengthen the PDP ahead of future polls, had generated anticipation among party faithful.
Sources within the party hinted that the decision to postpone the meeting followed ongoing consultations among top leaders over lingering internal disagreements in some state chapters and leadership restructuring within the party’s national organs.
“The leadership wants to ensure that when the NEC eventually holds, it will be productive and unified,” a source told reporters.
The PDP, Nigeria’s main opposition party, has recently intensified efforts to reposition itself following a series of electoral and internal challenges.
Ologunagba, however, assured members that the party remains committed to unity, internal democracy, and the pursuit of national development.

The new date for the 103rd NEC meeting is expected to be announced soon.
