Peter Obi, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has broken his silence after holding a private meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Thursday.
Obi revealed details of the visit in a post shared on his verified X handle. He described Jonathan as his “elder brother, statesman, and leader.”
He said their discussion behind closed doors was “fruitful” and centered on pressing national issues.
The meeting comes at a time of growing speculation within political circles, linking both Jonathan and Obi as possible presidential contenders under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Obi wrote:
“Today in Abuja, I met with my very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader, former President Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan. We had a fruitful closed-door meeting and discussed the state of our dear nation.”
