Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to family, friends, and well-wishers to channel their gifts and greetings for her upcoming 65th birthday into contributions for the completion of the National Library.
In a video message shared by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady announced that she has chosen to mark her birthday quietly, dedicating the day to God and a cause she described as close to her heart.
“By the special grace of God, I will be turning 65 years old on the 21st September 2025, and this happens to be a Sunday. This is why I have decided to dedicate the day to God for all his blessings in my life and having a quiet birthday,” she said.
Mrs. Tinubu urged well-wishers who had intended to send gifts, cakes, flowers, or newspaper greetings to instead direct such resources to the “Oluremi at 65 Education Fund,” a donation drive set up to support the National Library project.
“I wish to appeal to those who would like to send a birthday card, cakes, flowers, greetings in the newspapers or gifts should please send the funds to the designated account for a special project close to my heart among many others.
The completion of the National Library, this would be the best birthday present I could receive,” she said.
Explaining her decision, the First Lady emphasized her passion for education.
“My love for education has informed my decision to dedicate my birthday to this worthy cause,” she added.
According to her, the fund is coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education under the “Oluremi at 65 Education Fund” with Zenith Bank Plc, account number 1310314977.
Her spokesperson, Kukoyi, also issued a caution to the public against fraudulent fundraising efforts, urging Nigerians to disregard any account details other than the official one provided.
