The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has praised the Kogi government for its massive investment in primary healthcare centres across the state.
The Executive Director of NPHCDA, Dr Muyi Aina, gave the commendation during a meeting with National Health Fellows (NHF) and Performance & Financial Management Officers (PFMOs) on Friday in Lokoja.
Aina lauded the state government’s efforts in strengthening primary healthcare, while appealing for additional support to further enhance healthcare delivery across communities.
He encouraged the Health Fellows and PFMOs to share experiences on best practices, commending their contributions to improving quality healthcare services in the state.
During his visit to the revitalised Primary Healthcare Centre in Obuburu, Idanuha Ward, Adavi Local Government Area, Aina expressed satisfaction with the level of work carried out.
“We appreciate the state government’s commitment to revitalising primary healthcare centres across Kogi.
“This investment will significantly improve healthcare delivery and outcomes for the people,” Aina said.
He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for championing the renewed health sector investment initiative, which had boosted opportunities for young people to serve as Health Fellows and PFMOs.
Aina urged the health workers to maximise the opportunity created by the President and ensure meaningful impact within their respective communities.
Kogi’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Adeiza Abdulazeez, welcomed Aina and his team, expressing optimism that the collaboration would further strengthen healthcare delivery in the state.
Earlier, the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA), Dr Musa Muazu, applauded Gov. Ahmed Ododo’s commitment to healthcare infrastructure and operations.
Muazu appealed to the Federal Government and partners for additional support, noting that collaborative efforts remained crucial for sustaining progress in the state’s healthcare system.
He stressed that the NPHCDA’s visit underscored its commitment to supporting state governments in improving healthcare delivery and outcomes nationwide.
“The agency’s partnership with states and stakeholders will further enhance primary healthcare services in Kogi and across the country,” Muazu said.
