Police arraign man , 28, for alleged theft of motorcycle in Osun

The Police in Osun, on Friday arraigned one Shefiu Umar Before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing a Bajaj motorcycle.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Kayode Adeoye , told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime between the month of April and May at Sabo Area , Osogbo .

Adeoye said the defendant fraudulently obtained the sum of N1. 7 million from one Maikubi Garba with the pretence of selling to him a bajaj motorcycle to him knowing to be false .

He said that the offence contrvened sections 421 and 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 ,laws of Osun 2002.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence.

The defence counsel , Mr Rageneous Ugwu , prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mr A. Adeyeba , granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adeyeba said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and should present evidence of tax payments to the court’s registrar.

The magistrate adjourned the case to Sept. 9 for mention.
