The Lagos State Government has sealed Dowen College in Lekki Phase 1 over environmental violations related to improper waste disposal. The action was confirmed following a directive from Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab, who condemned the school’s actions as a blatant breach of environmental laws. The sealing took effect after waste materials traced to the college were found improperly disposed of, prompting the deployment of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps to enforce the closure. Wahab emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy, stating that such violations jeopardize public health and safety, and warned of firm action against any institution disregarding waste management regulations.
