The Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its newly appointed Assistant Coach, Akin Olowokere, who slumped and died on Monday morning.
Olowokere, one of the coaches recently unveiled by the Oluyole Warriors after parting ways with the Gbenga Ogunbote-led technical crew, collapsed during the team’s morning training session in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred on the pitch while the players and technical team were in action. He slumped on the pitch during the team’s Monday morning training session and was rushed to the hospital
It was gathered that the former Sunshine Stars of Akure defender, who later became a tactician, drew immediate medical attention after going down mid-session. Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at an undisclosed hospital.
The cause of death has not been officially disclosed.
Olowokere, known for his calm and soft-spoken personality, was a regular for Sunshine Stars during his playing days before transitioning into coaching. He served as an assistant coach at the Akure-based club under Head Coach Edith Agoye before his recent appointment at 3SC.
