Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has endorsed ex-President Goodluck Jonathan as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) strongest candidate for the 2027 presidential election, urging the party to actively persuade him to return. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 8, 2025, Lamido praised Jonathan’s experience, calm temperament, and collaborative leadership, stating, “If we are giving the presidency to the South, who is there in PDP who can challenge Jonathan in terms of pedigree?” He argued that no other southern PDP member matches Jonathan’s governance credentials, making him the party’s best bet to challenge President Bola Tinubu.
