Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has departed Nigeria for the United States to attend the wedding ceremony of his nephew, internationally acclaimed music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
The wedding, which is scheduled to take place in a private but star-studded ceremony in the U.S., has drawn attention both locally and internationally. Governor Adeleke, fondly referred to as the “dancing governor,” is expected to lead the Adeleke family delegation at the high-profile event.
A statement from the Osun State Government confirmed the governor’s travel, noting that he would also use the opportunity to meet with potential investors and engage in diplomatic talks beneficial to the state during his brief visit.
“His Excellency will combine the family event with scheduled meetings with U.S.-based investors and members of the Osun diaspora community,” the statement read.
Davido, who recently made headlines with the announcement of his wedding, has long spoken openly about his strong bond with his uncle, describing Governor Adeleke as a pillar of support throughout his career.
Meanwhile, sources close to the Adeleke family have hinted that the ceremony will be attended by music industry heavyweights, political figures, and global celebrities, further solidifying Davido’s place as one of Africa’s biggest cultural exports.
Governor Adeleke is expected back in Nigeria shortly after the event to resume his official duties.
