Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said it is unrealistic to expect any government to address all of a nation’s challenges within a short period, noting that governance is a continuous process.
Speaking in Abuja on Sunday while inspecting ongoing projects in the territory, Wike urged Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, assuring that the government remains committed to delivering on its promises.
“Governance is not magic. No government can solve all problems at once. What is important is the sincerity of purpose, the will to work, and the commitment to improving the lives of our people,” Wike stated.
The minister, who described the expectations of some citizens as “understandably high,” stressed that the administration had inherited numerous infrastructural and economic challenges but was tackling them systematically.
He noted that several road, housing, and public utility projects in the FCT were nearing completion, adding that these would significantly ease the burden on residents.
“We are working on priority areas because resources are limited. But I can assure you that every project we start, we will finish. It’s about continuity and focus, not trying to do everything at once and ending up doing nothing well,” Wike added.
Wike further appealed to Nigerians to support government policies, saying development required collective effort, not just political leadership.
