The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially sacked the National Working Committee (NWC), escalating internal discord at the national leadership level.
In a coordinated statement from the party’s North‑West Zonal Secretary, Alhaji Idris Inuwa, SDP explicitly declared Nasir Ahmad el‑Rufai is not a registered member, has no official mandate, and is not recognized by the party at any level.
His public appearances in policy circles under the SDP name were dismissed as “impersonation” and “reputational sabotage”.
The party stated el‑Rufai had never received membership registration, appointment, or any authorization to speak on its behalf.
A formal vote of no confidence was passed against him, and the party threatened further sanctions, including investigations and possible suspensions.
SDP also accused Dr. Umar Ardo, alleged to be collaborating with the African Democratic Alternative (ADA), of misusing the SDP platform. A resolution was adopted to suspend Ardo, with a vow to launch a special NEC committee to probe the matter and publish findings.
