Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has officially resumed office and instructed his staff to follow suit. In a video posted on X.com on Monday, Shaibu stated,

“In adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, I announce my official resumption to office. God Bless Edo State, God Bless Nigeria.”

During his video address, Shaibu urged any staff members who had not yet returned to work since his reinstatement to do so immediately, warning of potential consequences for non-compliance.

He emphasized that the Federal High Court’s ruling, which reinstated him, affirmed that his office was never vacant.

Shaibu also cautioned banks against conducting any transactions with his office without his direct approval, labeling such actions as illegal.

Shaibu expressed sorrow over the killing of a police officer attached to the Edo APC governorship candidate, an incident that occurred upon his return to the state.

He confirmed that suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime.

Additionally, Shaibu disclosed that he has requested the state governor’s approval to reinstate his aides but is still awaiting a response.

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, was recently reinstated by a Federal High Court, following a legal battle over his removal from office.

The court’s decision nullified his earlier suspension, ruling that the actions taken against him were unconstitutional and violated his rights as an elected official.

The judgment emphasized that due process was not followed in his removal, leading to the court’s directive for his immediate reinstatement. (NAN)
