His Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe Endorses Things Fall Apart Festival 2025

The Centre For Memories is deeply honoured to announce that His Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, Agbogidi, CFR, mni, the 21st Obi of Onitsha and Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Centre, has graciously given his fatherly blessings and unwavering support to the Things Fall Apart Festival 2025, set to hold from June 29 to July 5, 2025, in Enugu.

The planning committee paid a visit to His Majesty to brief him on the vision, themes, and preparations for the landmark festival. In response, Agbogidi not only applauded the initiative but affirmed its urgency and relevance, emphasizing that “the erosion of traditional values is a central crisis in Ala Ìgbò today.”

Reflecting on the legacy of Chinua Achebe, he noted that Things Fall Apart remains a powerful lens through which to understand the complex interplay between tradition and change, and commended the Centre for invoking this legacy to spark vital conversations about identity, culture, and the future of Ndị Ìgbò.

“This festival is a step in the right direction,” Agbogidi remarked, encouraging the team to stay focused and bold in its pursuit of cultural revival and intergenerational dialogue.

A renowned arts patron, His Majesty Igwe Achebe brings a legacy of leadership to this endorsement. He is a former Executive Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company, a former Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a distinguished alumnus of the Royal Dutch Shell Group, where he served in various senior leadership capacities before ascending the throne in 2002.

His blessing energizes and affirms the mission of the Things Fall Apart Festival — to celebrate memory, inspire unity, and reclaim the Ìgbò spirit.

With Agbogidi’s royal support, the path to the festival shines even brighter.
