The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, gave a marching order to the Nigerian Army to flush out bandits terrorizing the people of Baruten and Kaiama local government areas of Kwara state and Borgu in Kainji forest in Niger State within one month.
Addressing a troop at the 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin,Oluyede said that the Nigerian army would not allow the insurgency in the northeast to escalate to the north-central.
According to him, it is the responsibility of the Nigerian Army to protect the territorial integrity of the nation.
He said, “No single part of the territory would be allowed to integrate or be taken away by insurgents under whatever guise.
The Chief of Army Staff said that the bandits must be flushed out of the Nigerian territory in the next month.
Oluyede explained that he was going around the country to ensure that the country becomes better, noting that ” Nigeria was having some challenges, and the Army has to push the insurgents out of the country.
The chief of Army Staff promised better welfare, feeding, education facilities, and uniforms for members of the Armed forces.
Oluyede noted that the Army has intervened in the provision of 100,000 units of Uniforms per month while N1 billion naira was allocated to feeding the soldiers every month.
A group known as Mahmuda had recently surfaced in Kaiama and Baruten local government areas of Kwara state, while seven persons were killed by a yet-to-be-identified group in Ilesha Baruba in the Baruten local government area of Kwara on Monday.
