The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has declared that the party will strictly abide by all electoral laws governing the upcoming 2027 general elections, but firmly warned that it will resist any attempt by state institutions or political opponents to manipulate the polls.

Speaking during a high-level national strategy and dialogue session held on Wednesday morning at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja, Senator Mark emphasized that the party’s commitment to peace should not be mistaken for weakness.

Addressing press members, party leaders, and political stakeholders, the former Senate President stated that the party is preparing extensively to contest across all levels, but insisted that the integrity of the 2027 electoral process remains non-negotiable.

”The African Democratic Congress is fully committed to playing by the rules as defined by the Electoral Act and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” Senator Mark stated.

However, let it be clear: compliance is not compliance with oppression or fraud. We will not tolerate candidate imposition, electoral malpractice, or any deliberate scheme to rig the ADC out of its rightful mandates”.

Addressing the role of security agencies and electoral officers, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Bolaji Abdullahi, echoed the chairman’s sentiments during a afternoon press brief at the venue, calling on INEC to maintain strict neutrality.

”We are sending a clear signal to all election managers and security personnel that Nigerians will demand full accountability in 2027,” Abdullahi said. “Our members across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are being mobilized to guard their votes legitimately at every polling unit”.

The conference concluded with the party reaffirming its resolve to build a broad national coalition aimed at providing a strong alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
