Confusion continues to surround the fate of victims abducted in Igboho, Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, following official denials of their release. Both the council chairman, Jacob Ogundiran, and the Oyo State Police Command have firmly dismissed widespread reports claiming that the captives had regained their freedom.

The conflicting narratives have heightened anxiety among residents and family members who are desperately awaiting concrete updates on the security situation.

Despite social media speculation and unverified local reports suggesting the victims had been let go, top officials have urged the public to disregard the claims.

Oorelope Local Government Chairman, Jacob Ogundiran, clarified that no such release has been confirmed to the local authorities, stating that search and rescue efforts are still paramount.

The Oyo State Police Command echoed the chairman’s statement, confirming that official security channels have not recorded the return of the abductees.

Security agencies, alongside local vigilante groups, are reportedly maintaining a high alert and continuing their operations in the area to track down the kidnappers.

”We appeal to the public and the media to exercise restraint in spreading unverified information, which can compromise ongoing security operations and exacerbate the trauma of the victims’ families.”

Security forces have assured the public that intelligence-led efforts are being intensified to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and to restore calm to the Igboho community.
