The Oyo State chapter of the City Boy Movement (CBM) officially inaugurated its state and local government executive councils on Monday, October 19, 2026, in Ibadan, launching an aggressive grassroots political strategy to secure victories for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The high-level political gathering saw leadership delegates convene to outline an operational blueprint designed to deepen party structures across all 33 local government areas (LGAs) in Oyo State.

Addressing attendees on behalf of the Oyo State Director of the movement, Hon. Olufemi Onireti, key representative Olumide Alli emphasized that achieving long-term political impact requires converting the group’s substantial youth numerical strength into an organized, boots-on-the-ground mobilization network.

”We must translate our numerical strength into an effective grassroots network,” Alli declared during his key address. “The administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown steady leadership through bold economic reforms and the continuation of key infrastructure projects. Securing a second term is vital to consolidating these ongoing national developments.”

Newly inaugurated executives were charged to set aside individual political ambitions and unite around the primary objective of securing APC electoral victories statewide. Executive desks and operational units will be established in all 33 local council areas to engage voters directly at the ward and community levels.

Mobilisers will carry out door-to-door civic campaigns educating citizens on the economic policies and developmental achievements of the current federal administration. Aligning with CBM’s broader targets, the Oyo chapter aims to actively engage young voters across southwest communities to boost voter registration and turnout ahead of 2027.

The inauguration marks the transition of the City Boy Movement’s strategy in Oyo State from internal restructuring to active field mobilization, setting the groundwork for an extended political drive across the state’s geopolitical zones.
