The national leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended its congratulations to the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, on the occasion of his 65th birthday, projecting him as the definitive symbol of hope ahead of the 2027 general elections.
​In a joint statement issued from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja on Sunday, July 19, 2026, NDC National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, and National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan, described the former Anambra State governor as a leader of absolute integrity and deep vision.

​The birthday milestone comes as the opposition party intensifies its grassroots mobilization and strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 polls. Obi, who emerged as the consensus flagbearer following the NDC special convention in Abuja earlier this year, has consistently targeted national infrastructure, security, and economic reforms as the pillars of his platform.
​Marking the day with reflection rather than fanfare, Obi observed the morning with a Mass of Thanksgiving in Onitsha, Anambra State. In line with his advocacy for human capital investment, he marked his 65th year by donating ₦10 million to a rural hospital to support high-quality local healthcare delivery, maintaining that the true measure of life lies in impacting humanity positively.
