The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council (ADC PCC) has called on the Inspector-General of Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to launch an immediate investigation into the Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarrett Tenebe, following his controversial “AK-47 fire” remarks.
The demand was issued in a formal press statement released on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from the ADC PCC media office in Abuja by the council’s Director of Media and Publicity, Chief Kola Ologbondiyan.
The opposition party condemned comments made by Tenebe during a recent political gathering in Benin City, where the state APC chairman pledged to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election and declared “AK-47 fire” against anyone attempting to block the party’s path.
Describing Tenebe’s statements as “inciting,” “terroristic,” and a clear attempt to intimidate the electorate, Ologbondiyan stated that the ruling party was resorting to violent rhetoric after failing to deliver on its governance promises.
”This is terrorism, not politics,” Ologbondiyan stated during the press briefing in Abuja. “The ADC PCC waited for the leadership of the APC or the Presidency to publicly condemn or distance themselves from this reckless statement by Jarrett Tenebe, but their silence suggests implicit endorsement. We are calling on security agencies and INEC to urgently probe this threat to forestall political violence ahead of 2027.”
The ADC further highlighted recent violence against its members, citing an incident in Gegu, Koton Karfi Local Government Area of Kogi State, where party supporters were allegedly attacked and their vehicles destroyed.
Despite the alleged threats, the opposition council declared that its members and voters across Nigeria would not be intimidated by firearms or political violence, maintaining that citizens would confront state-backed intimidation using their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at the polls in 2027.
As of Monday morning, October 5, 2026, neither the Edo State Police Command nor the national leadership of the APC has issued an official statement regarding the probe demand.
