2027 General Elections: PDP inaugurates presidential and National Assembly campaigns in Ogun central

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officially kicked off its campaign for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections in Ogun Central Senatorial District on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

The procession toured the district’s three federal constituencies, drawing massive crowds of supporters before culminating in a central rally at the historic Ake Palace Pavilion in Abeokuta.

The campaign activities began at Agbado Station in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency. Party loyalists lined the streets and balconies to welcome the party leadership, including governorship candidate Hon. Ladi Adebutu, running mate Hajiya Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, and Ogun Central senatorial candidate Senator Iyabo Obasanjo.

The Abeokuta North Federal Constituency campaign kicked off By 10:00 AM, a crowd gathered at the NTA Junction in Totoro to greet the convoy alongside the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives, Arch. Dele Olaleye.

The Abeokuta South Federal Constituency began moving through the district with House of Representatives candidate Hon. Toyin Amuzu, the campaign procession brought local traffic to a temporary standstill as thousands of supporters escorted the candidates to the central venue.

The tour ended at the Ake Palace Pavilion / Arcade, Abeokuta, where party members gathered to hear formal addresses from candidate spokespersons.

​Addressing the crowd at the Ake Pavilion, governorship candidate Hon. Ladi Adebutu called on residents to reject underperformance and vote for PDP candidates in the upcoming elections.

Ogun Central must bid farewell to non-performance and vote for liberation,” Adebutu declared. He urged voters to turn out en masse, protect their ballots, and remain steadfast against intimidation.

​Senatorial candidate Senator Iyabo Obasanjo stated that her campaign is rooted in a proven record of service and grassroots development.

Everywhere I go, people on their own point at the work I did when I represented them and how many people were liberated from poverty,” Obasanjo noted. She promised to reactivate community initiative frameworks, including her Iyaniwura Foundation, to deliver social and economic relief to the district.
