Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State on Thursday travelled to Mafa to witness the ward congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing satisfaction with the peaceful and seamless conduct of the exercise.
Zulum, who joined party faithful in Mafa Ward, was accompanied by the APC Deputy National Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori; Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan; Mohammed Jaha (Babawo); and the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly.

Also in the governor’s entourage were the APC State Chairman, Bello Ayuba; Senator Baba Kaka Bashir Garbai; and other senior party executives.

Party members across Mafa Ward converged to elect new ward executives in an exercise conducted by consensus, a move party leaders said was designed to promote unity and harmony within the ranks. The congress was held simultaneously across the 312 wards in Borno State.

Addressing party members shortly after the exercise, Governor Zulum commended stakeholders for embracing consensus and maintaining order throughout the process. He described the conduct of the congress as a reflection of the party’s commitment to internal democracy and cohesion.

The ward congress committee was chaired by the Borno State Commissioner for Health, Professor Baba Mallam Gana. Meanwhile, the Mafa Local Government Electoral Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Salihu Muktari, monitored the exercise to ensure compliance with established guidelines.

Observers noted that the peaceful conduct of the congress across the state underscores the APC’s efforts to consolidate its structures at the grassroots level ahead of future political engagements.
