In Zimbabwe, a drone delivered medicines for the first time from the country’s capital, Harare, to the city of Marondera, located 75 kilometres away.
On its return journey, the drone transported blood samples for laboratory tests, as reported on Tuesday by TV BRICS. According to the report a Satellite internet was used to operate the drone.
The country’s authorities are working to expand internet access so that such technologies can be used across the country.
The new delivery method will help medical facilities receive essential medicines and send samples to laboratories more quickly. It said that the use of drone was important particularly for remote communities that are difficult to reach by road.
