The Zamfara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the welfare and security of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state, with Governor Dauda Lawal announcing the resumption of state allowances for corps members and special allowances for those in medical roles.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members on August 1, 2025, at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Gusau, Lawal, represented by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Nasiru Kaura, emphasized that these measures fulfill his pledge to improve corps members’ welfare. “The safety and welfare of every corps member is paramount to my administration,” he said, assuring a secure environment for their service year.
Previously, on April 26, 2025, Lawal approved a 100% increase in state allowances for corps members, alongside special incentives for medical personnel, during the 2025 Batch A Stream I orientation. The NYSC Zamfara State Coordinator, Mallam Muhammad Ahmed, praised the government’s support, noting that the three-week orientation includes cultural lectures, physical training, and skills acquisition to prepare corps members for their service. A total of 554 corps members were sworn in by the state’s Chief Judge, represented by Deputy Chief Registrar Aishatu Jibrin.
