A member of the House of Representatives representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, Abdulmalik Zubairu Bungudu, has disbursed 35.1 million naira as scholarships to 1,100 students across five tertiary institutions in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Spokesperson to the lawmaker, Aminu Lawal Bungudu, who said the gesture is part of the ongoing disbursement of this year’s scholarship and study allowances, handled by a committee set up for the purpose.
According to the statement, the benefiting institutions include Zamfara State University, Talata Mafara; Zamfara State College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Bakura; and Zamfara State College of Health Sciences and Technology (CHST), Tsafe.
Others are the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau, and Zamfara State College of Arts and Science (ZACAS), Gusau.
The Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, Muhammad Lawal Adamu, explained that students of Zamfara State University (ZAMSUT) received N40,000 each, while students of CAAS Bakura, ZACAS Gusau, FCET Gusau, and CHST Tsafe were awarded N30,000 each.
The statement added that the overall objective of the scholarship scheme initiated by the lawmaker is to ease the financial burden of education on both students and their parents.
