The Ummah Zakat Foundation is set to inaugurate its Board of Trustees (BOT) and unveil its EasyZakat digital platform on Thursday in Abuja.
The event will take place at the auditorium of the National Mosque, with the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Saad Abubakar, expected to attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
The foundation, established as a faith-inspired non-profit organisation, aims to use Zakat, Sadaqah and other forms of Islamic philanthropy to reduce poverty, improve livelihoods and support vulnerable members of society.
According to the foundation, the EasyZakat platform is a web and mobile application designed to simplify the calculation, payment, collection, tracking and distribution of Zakat. It will connect donors, beneficiaries, administrators and relevant institutions through a secure digital system.
The platform is expected to improve transparency and accountability by providing digital records, beneficiary validation, auditable transaction trails and real-time tracking of contributions. The foundation said the initiative would strengthen donor confidence while supporting poverty reduction, social justice and inclusive community development across Nigeria.
